WILMINGTON |
Tourist Guide - Wilmington is a popular holiday town; and on weekends Wilmington bed and breakfasts and Wilmington inns can be especially busy. Wilmington lodgings are charming places to stay, and the town of Wilmington itself has an attractive assortment of stores selling antiques and local crafts, as well as a variety of other activities and attractions. Another reason for the popularity of Wilmington lodging is the town's close proximity to the Mount Snow resort, which is a top winter destination in New England for Alpine skiing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, and snow golf. The savvy traveler may even find special packages that combine stays at Wilmington lodgings with passes to Mount Snow. At other times of the year, Mount Snow offers other outdoor attractions, such as a golf course, facilities for white water rafting, and trails for hiking and mountain biking. In fact it also runs a mountain biking school, the first one to be established in the United States. The Wilmington area itself is home to a number of interesting attractions. These include the Adams Family Farm, a working farm that is open to visitors; the Harriman Reservoir, which has a beach area for swimming and sunbathing; and the Haystack Golf Club. Nearby Lake Whitingham offers wave-runner rentals for an exciting water sports experience. For a quieter excursion, you can go for a visit to the North River Winery, a few minutes away in the village of Jacksonville. At the end of the day, make your way back to the warm hospitality of your Wilmington bed and breakfast or Wilmington inn.
